Mick Kinane

Does anybody remember my great grandfather Mick Kinane?
Big fella, tattoo’s, used to drink in the Goose Green, ended up in a wheel chair with one leg..

did,nt he ride horses .

Not that I know of… he was in both world wars, lost his leg when he was older but still turned out in the pubs in the wheelchair

l am sure Mick Kinnane was my dads uncle.His name was Harold Lowe.

Yes owdfettler I asked my dad he said your right , it was my nans uncle apparently Mary Dawber nee Kinane

l knew his family they went to the same school as me ,Jack,Mike,Hilda,the others where older so l did not mix with them,people used to mix me up and thought l was a Kinnane.

Yeah that’s right, I was supposed to be named after Jack, my dads favourite uncle, there was Dickie (a lot older), Jimmy, mick, jack, Hilda, Sheila, Annie and mary / molly (my Nan)

Are you sure you had no relatives in Haydock?
Old Mrs Kinaie had redish hair, only a small lady, would've been born in the late 1800's. She lived in number 248 Clipsley Lane, Haydock. Had two sons, Tommy and Jackie. The name Mick cropped up too.
Kinane would, of course, been her husband's family name. Just a thought!

I’m not too sure, I’ve only got as far back as my great grandfather Mick Kinane (birth 1900) and my great grandmother Ethel Kinane (birth 1906)
I think there will be some connection with the name Kinane being so rare
